Abby’s First Match

Abby had never been to a football match before. She didn't know the songs, the rules or even which team to support. When her brother asked if she wanted to go with him, she smiled and said yes. She was excited, but she wasn't sure what to expect.

When they arrived at the stadium, thousands of people were already there. Some families were wearing colourful scarves, and children were playing with footballs outside. The crowd cheered as the players walked onto the pitch. Abby looked around and couldn't stop smiling.

During the match, her brother explained the rules and answered all her questions. At first, Abby watched the ball all the time. Then she started to notice the fans. They sang together, laughed together and supported their team from the first minute to the last.

The home team scored in the second half. Everyone jumped to their feet and celebrated together. Abby celebrated too, even though she had only learned the team's name that afternoon.

On the way home, her brother asked, "So, did you enjoy it?"

Abby laughed.

"It wasn't only about football," she said. "It was about sharing the day with everyone."
